Ramgarh- Fruit bowl Of Kumaon

Ramgarh is a small hill station and tourist destination on the way to Mukteshwar in Nainital District of Uttarakhand, India. An unobstructed view of the snow-capped ranges of the Himalayas from this place can be seen. The place was once the cantonment of the English army. There is also a library dedicated to famous Hindi poet writer Mahadevi Verma who got the idea of writing Lachma, the famous story in Ramgarh.The famous poets Rabindranath Tagore and social worker Narain Swami had established their ashrams over here. Ramgarh is emerging as a popular destination of Uttarakhand state as it is one of the hidden jewels of Kumaon region. Ramgarh is earning a good name by word of mouth from the tourists who visit this heavenly hamlet. Ramgarh is also known as ‘Fruit Bowl Of Kumaon’ as it houses verdant orchards of apples, apricots, peach and pears. Ramgarh is divided into two parts where Malla is located on elevation and Talla is located downhill. The beauty of Ramgarh lies in its serenity, exquisiteness and tranquillity. Unobstructed view of snow-capped Himalayas is mesmerising. This place was once the cantonment of the English Army. Ramgarh has different activities like bird watching, nature walks and trekking. Ramgarh attracts a lot of myriad species of birds to its dense forests and green pastures. A wide variety of both resident and migratory birds can be spotted here throughout the year. Ramgarh and its vicinity offer some remarkable forest trails and mountain walks. There are very few easy treks in and around Ramgarh for the adventure seekers.
